We have all done it, started out with the best intensions but found ourselves falling back into old habits. This is something I teach my clients when I am coaching them as part of my free nutrition consultation service.
1 day isn’t a re-lapse… it’s just a lapse.
One day of eating a few naughty treats and ‘off diet’ foods isn’t a failure. It’s just a lapse. String a few of these together and it becomes a re-lapse but if it’s just a single event or day, I wouldn’t worry too much about it! If it becomes more than a day, then perhaps it’s time to get in touch with your nutritional coach (me!!!) and we can talk through what is happening for you and what we can do to get you back on track.
Recognise the triggers.
Sometimes stress, boredom, anger, frustration, loneliness can all be triggers for eating something you know you didn’t want to eat. We do this because we think it will make us feel better and it will, for a moment. However, the guilt and shame can start to sink in and that’s when the poor eating habits can creep back in and spiral out of control. Read my ‘Stress Eating’ blog to find out more information.
Pick up where you left off.
Don’t let one day get the better of you. It is never too late to get back on track. This is where having a nutritional coach comes in handy. I will give you the support, guidance and encouragement you need to get you back on track and in the positive mindset that you started out with. It’s there, you just need reminding of how well you have been doing and your why… we all have a why, a reason for starting this journey towards our healthy lifestyle habits so that we can lead a healthy lifestyle for the rest of our lives!
Remember – you are on a life long journey. Support is just a phone call away.
